The Claremont McKenna College President's House: Restoring this home, built in 1904, to its original grandeur was an awesome experience. This house truly demonstrates that, with some design planning and attention to detail, remodeling can revitalize any home.

When we first saw this house, layers of paint and varnish covered original fir beams, moldings, floors, and walls. The center of the house was also literally sinking, and the integrity of the building was severely compromised. After repairing the foundation (it's stronger now than ever), we carefully renovated the interiors, making the home suitable for its use as both a single family residence and hospitality center for the college.

In addition to work on the main house, we added a new porte cochere (a Craftsman style element missing from the original design), a large outdoor patio deck suitable for entertaining, and new landscaping in keeping with the style of the house. A converted garage now serves as a state of the art conference facility.
