    The Hancock Park Residence

    Italianate Villa Estate
    Renovated in Hancock Park

The extensive remodel of this 1923 Hancock Park estate included the gallery, dining room, bedrooms & bathrooms. An expansion to the second floor allowed for a new kitchen and pantry, family room, laundry room, den, and basement theater room. We thank Shonda Rhimes for choosing HartmanBaldwin for architecture and construction. Our collaboration with Michael Smith Interiors completed this home’s amazing transformation.

HartmanBaldwn’s effective and professional project management was critical due to this project’s long and complex program with hundreds of trades and schedules that required skilled architects, designers, and seasoned construction personnel to coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the massive renovation of this private estate.

Yes, we believe in positive collaboration. Whether we're working directly with the homeowner or their representatives—like a client liaison, architect, or designer—during a historic home restoration, we love to integrate seamlessly into your team and work with you to deliver an exceptional client experience.

The Design-Bid-Build approach forces the homeowner to act as the middle person between the architect, interior designer, and contractor during the historic home renovation project. Often, putting homeowners in the middle of what can be an adversarial triangle, where each party is seeking different information at different points in time with no contractual obligation to each other to communicate effectively. In the Design-Build approach, one company coordinates all aspects of your historic house restoration project and ensures that all project contributors are on the same page to achieve successful projects and better client experiences.
