Hancock Park Spanish Revival historic Estate Renovation

Las Palmas Residence

In Hancock Park, this 1928 Spanish Colonial Revival estate, originally designed by James Dolena, has been restored and reimagined for modern living. HartmanBaldwin partnered with June Street Architecture and interior designer Barry Fox to guide the home into its next chapter, pairing a preservation-minded approach with confident modern design, seen in the reflective brass kitchen cabinetry, a moody study in deep maroon, down to a custom cat-shaped faucet in the powder bathroom. A grand formal living room, a serene primary suite, and a wood-paneled gym elevate the home to livable luxury. The most complex work called for design and construction expertise in equal measure. A new basement was excavated to house a three-tiered screening room, and an attached guest apartment was added, all without compromising the historic exterior. The work extended to the grounds, where the pool and courtyard were restored to complement the residence. Featured in Architectural Digest, the project shows what a collaborative team can achieve when preservation and personal expression guide every decision.
